In today’s day and age where the economy still seems to be on its wobbly knees everywhere instead of stabilizing after even so long, what everyone wants and really needs is a way to cut down on costs. Sadly costs only seem to go up rather than down and people all over are facing a lot of tough times and finding it hard to make ends meet. One of the few fields though where some people seem to be faring better is that of horticulture or that of growing plant indoors and that too with the use of an LED plant light.
The combination of growing plants in indoor areas and an LED plant light is a great one. The main reason for this is the incredible cost savings that people can achieve by the use of an LED plant light. Traditional grow lights require ballasts to be able to operate. While that in itself is not a problem, the fact is that eventually all ballasts will wear or burn out and will need to be replaced, and that can be costly. An LED plant light has no use for a ballast which eliminates this cost from your production costs entirely.
With an LED plant light panel you can have three to four bars running into a single power supply that you can plug straight into a wall socket. Another thing is that al other traditional grow lights are fitted with big reflectors in order to make sure that light is emitted to the plants properly in all directions that it is needed. With LED grow lights however there is no need of reflectors because they are in-built in the LED lights. With the light being focused automatically where it is needed, the LED lights show another way in which they are so energy efficient and in turn cost efficient. LED plant lights use very little electricity when compared to any other type of grow lights. In fact if you run your LED lights for fourteen hours a day every day of the year, then in total it will cost you less than $15 in electricity bills provided that your LED plant lights are of the best quality available.
In comparison if you are using as a light source a high pressure sodium lamp then it will cost you a minimum of $153 a year if run for the same fourteen hours a day everyday of the year. Another point to keep in mind is that an LED plant light is recyclable once it comes to the end of its life, which may not be for ten to fifteen years. This is because LED grow lights do not contain any lead or mercury or even any glass parts. Other grow lights and lamps usually have these elements in them and can therefore be very costly to dispose of especially since they then come under the category of hazardous waste material.
